Solstice Party: the bonfire :: milliways_bar

As the sun sets and the evening grows colder, Jack lights a brand and stands on the dancing platform, near the bonfire.

"Everyone!" he calls. "Everyone. Can I have your attention, please.

"We're going to light the bonfire in a few minutes, but first I've been asked to say a few words. As many of you know, we have great sorrows in the bar today. Friends who are endangered, and the outcome is unclear. I have been asked to speak a blessing to the Universe to bring them safely home."

He pauses a moment, holding the torch high, and then speaks to the stars. "Father and Mother of us all, hear our plea. We have great fears tonight. Loved ones whom we wish to see and touch and make speech with again. See them safely home is our cry. Guide the warriors who seek them. Protect their champions. Bring them home to us that we may celebrate the lives we cherish."

He stands quiet again, and there is no sound but the crackling of the torch. Then he holds the brand to the bonfire, and in a moment it bursts into a great flame.

"Probably." If she can hold off kissing, so can he.

Hm. One of them is probably going to break sooner or later.

She rests her cheek against his, and with her mouth close to his ear, whispers, "I love you."

He leans down a little and bites her ear lobe gently. "Love you, too."

She squeaks a little and pulls back, smiling at him mischievously.

"Come on," she says, and grabbing his hand, begins leading him away from the party and the bar.

Sawyer follows, chuckling. "Damn, I love parties at this bar..."

"Me too," she agrees as she pulls him farther into the woods. Deeper until the light from the bonfire barely reaches through the trees (but not so deep that they won't be able to find their way back out).

"Jack asked the demon bunnies to stay away from the woods this evening."

"Good, 'cause I ain't never seen one of them, and I don't plan on it any time soon."

As innocently as he can, "So, what you planning on doing way out here?"

She flashes him a wicked grin and taking both his hands in hers backs herself up against a tree.

"I'm sure-- if we think really hard-- we can come up with something."

He presses against her, his right hand sliding up her arm to pull the strap of her dress off her left shoulder, his left hand running down her thigh to tug up the hem of the fabric there.

As he leans in for a kiss, "Yeah, you're probably right."
